Apex Learning
What is it?
Apex is a program that Henry added in 2011. It is a web base classroom that students can take for high school or college credit.
How does it work?
Students work at their own pace and work on online lessons. The program is mastery base which means that students have to master one lesson before they are allowed to move on to the next one. Students receive credit for a class after they finish a course rather than at quarter's end.
What students are Apex designed for?
Apex can be used for all students. It can be used for credit recovery when students fail a class. It can be used for students looking to take advanced or honors classes. It can be used for students who have difficulty reading. It can also be used for students looking to take AP classes.

Does apex replace the classroom teacher?
Absolutely not. Apex allows for students to work at their own pace based on their understanding of the content. This allows the teacher to spend more one-on-one time with students as they have questions. It also allows for students to take different classes in the same classroom.
Can apex be used at home?
Students can work on their apex class at home. All that is needed is a computer and the internet. It is not designed to be used so students can stay home from school, however. It is designed to be used under the direction of a teacher.
